T-Mobile Employees To ‘Sell Against’ The iPhone 5 Starting September 21

apple iphone 5 tmobileIn a recently leaked internal T-Mobile memo published by TmoNews, it’s revealed that on September 21st, the carrier will start training employees to “sell against the iPhone”. While somewhat unclear at first, it seem that if accurate, T-Mobile will neither carry nor support Apple’s sixth-generation iPhone.

Interestingly enough, both AT&T and Verizon are rumored to implement some form of vacation block and staffing increase on September 21st until the end of the month.

Perhaps it’s coincidental that the information for employees to utilize against the iPhone will drop on September 21st, a date being tossed around as a possible release date for the next-generation iPhone. Perhaps it’s just coincidence but we can’t envision a scenario in which T-Mobile would prepare their employees to sell against a product they are about to receive.

Of course, T-Mobile remains the only cell provider of the four major carriers that doesn’t officially support Apple’s iPhone on their network. But, that hasn’t stopped iPhone owners from unlocking their GSM iPhone via either a software or hardware-based unlock to use the iPhone over the carrier’s 2G services (it’s incompatible with the 3G hardware used by T-Mobile).

Moreover, while T-Mobile employees will be trained on how to compete with other carriers by trying to up-sell their phones, the starting date for their new initiative aligns perfectly with the rumored September 12th announcement and the 21st release date – coincidence? Stay tuned for complete coverage on Apple and their sixth-generation iPhone.
