Numerous Sources Confirm September 12th iPhone Unveiling Event

With all of the recent “leaks” pertaining to the next-generation iPhone, related to both hardware and information, one thing that has yet to be pinned down: the date of its unveiling.

Numerous credible news sources who have confirmed similar events in the past seem to agree on the date for an Apple media event scheduled this fall, presumably to reveal Apple’s next major iPhone hardware upgrade.

First, in a report mentioning iMore, AllThingsD suggested that while not confirmed, it’s likely Apple will hold an event to address the new iPhone in September:

Apple hasn’t yet officially announced the fall event at which it is expected to debut the next iteration of the iPhone, but it’s definitely planning one.

iMore was first to report that the company has scheduled a special event for Wednesday, September 12, and now we’ve confirmed it as well. Sources tell AllThingsD that Apple is currently planning an event for that week. And while we haven’t yet confirmed its focus, history suggests it will indeed be the new iPhone.

Home of the widely popular and influential D Conference, AllThingsD is certainly a reputable source when it comes to the technology sector, adding to the validity of iMore’s initial claims of a September iPhone event date.

Following AllThingsD’s report, The Verge chimed in – citing their own sources – to confirm September 12th:

… looks like we’ll be seeing what Apple has up its sleeves come Wednesday, September 12th. Our own sources have confirmed that date, and multiple websites have similar reports as well.

Also today, Jim Dalrymple from The Loop published a one-word comment that furthers iMore’s claims:

Yep.

Moreover, back to AllThingsD’s publication, Apple’s quarter three report for the 2012 fiscal year highlights a significant increase in “prepayments” for components – which can only mean one thing: Apple is gearing up for mass production.

While it’s all but certain Apple will hold an iPhone-specific event this fall to announce the next-generation device, there’s also been speculation that Apple will use this time to reveal a new breed of iPad; an “iPad mini” (a tablet measuring in at 7-inches). Whatever the case may be, stay tuned for complete coverage.
