Siri Has Been Ported To The iPhone 4! Well, Almost

9to5Mac has been working exclusively with developer Steven Troughton-Smith to port Siri (the personal assistant exclusively for the iPhone 4S) to the iPhone 4. A few days ago iH8sn0w and Gojohnnyboi informed us that Siri cannot work on older devices and, while that’s still partially true, Steven has made some pretty significant progress!

They were able to successfully install the iPhone 4S Springboard files onto the iPhone 4 which results in a fully functional Siri interface (as seen in the video below). Siri on the iPhone 4 can also recognize spoken commands for both the normal Siri view and the keyboard Dictation view. However, the issue right now is that Apple isn’t authenticating commands that they receive from the iPhone 4.

Here’s a video of their first attempt (without the proper GPU driver):

Here’s a video taken after the GPU was working properly with the correct driver:

9to5Mac said that they will continue to work closely with Steven on the Siri port and that they’ll keep us informed as things progress. Stay tuned for more updates on the Siri for iPhone 4 port!

If it works on iPhone 4 its obvious it has to work on iPad 1 and iPod Touch 4G because all these devices use the Apple A4 Processor

  • Noobboyz69

so when do you think this will be avaible for the iphone 4 or ipad 2? can you please reply back to me, thanks

  • Woojin444

Will it only work on the iPhone 4 white version?
Since it has A5 dual-core processor?
Or will it work on the A4 processor too?.

    • Kalo

      LOL the white iPhone 4 has a A4 chip not a A5.

      • Woojin444

        Oops… Made a mistake there… Lol

  • Cyal8r_jbb

  • Nickolascagen80000

What about porting Siri to the iPad 2? Would make sence cuz the iPhone 4s and the iPad 2 hav the same possessor…

This is pretty tight . If this actually works. iPhone 4s won’t be that better than the Good old 4′s

Well again, the main differences are in the hardware… An A5 processor, an upgraded camera (which is amazing), improved antennas and an improved speaker.

  • Shaharyar Baig

would that work on ipod touch 4g

    • Tanner Marsh

I’m not exactly sure but it seems the transition from an iPhone 4S to an iPhone 4 would be easier because their springboard files are closer than an iPhone 4S’ to an iPod Touch’s!

This is great! ^_^ I was think about buying a new phone only because of Siri

    • Tanner Marsh

Yeah, I LOVE SIRI and I bought it primarily for that reason too. However, there’s a NOTICEABLE speed difference and multiple things are improved such as the camera, antenna and the speaker seems to be at least 2x as loud!
