New Siri Proxy Plugins Allow For Third-Party Texting, iTunes Control, The Launching Of Programs And Remote Wakeup

The other day I reported on how the iPhone 4S’ personal assistant, Siri, can be used to control Plex video playback using the Siri proxy. Today brings a whole new set of awesome plugins that can be used in conjunction with Siri.

The video above demonstrates how the Siri proxy can be used to create plugins that can send text messages from unauthorized texting apps (in this case Google Voice), wake up computers from sleep mode, control iTunes on a computer and launch any application on a Mac.

At this point, you might be wondering how something like this is possible, and that’s a good question. Thanks to a developer by the name of Plamoni, a proxy server can run on a user’s computer that takes advantage of the guzzoni.apple.com fake local DNS registry (guzzoni.apple.com is Apple’s official Siri server).

After that, the user, or in this case developer, can use custom commands with Siri on the iPhone 4S as long as it’s connected to the same WiFi network as the computer that’s running the Siri proxy.

If you’re interested in the Siri Proxy, you can head over to the official Github page for the project. Stay tuned for more news and information related to the Siri Proxy and for coverage on what developers create in the future.
