New Report Suggests A Smaller 7.85″ iPad With A Low Price Tag Is Coming This Fall

While the idea of a smaller, mini iPad (measuring in with a approximate screen size of seven to eight inches) is still a controversial and highly debated subject, a recent report from a credible news source was recently publicized.

According to a new report from The New York Times, Apple will indeed unveil a smaller tablet with 7.85 inch display.

The company is developing a new tablet with a 7.85-inch screen that is likely to sell for significantly less than the latest $499 iPad, with its 9.7-inch display, according to several people with knowledge of the project who declined to be named discussing confidential plans. The product is expected to be announced this year.

Without acknowledging a named source, the report merely highlights the fact that Natalie Kerris (a spokesperson for Apple) has declined to comment on the recent rumors of a “mini iPad”.

Also included in the report, “several people with knowledge of the project who declined to be named…” suggest that Apple is scheduled to announce a device such as the one mentioned above.

While completely dominating the tablet market in general, Apple has yet to develop and release a device at a lower price point than their iPad to compete with the likes of Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Google’s new Nexus 7 tablet.

With that said and, with so much uncertainty shrouding the idea of a smaller iPad, stay tuned for complete coverage on the rumored tablet.
