iOS 6 Untethered Jailbreak 6.0.1, 6.0.2, 6.1 Update: New Vulnerabilities Discovered

iPhone 5 Cydia Jailbreak iOS 6.0.1 6.0.2

Earlier this month, planetbeing (an experienced iOS security expert and hacker that’s contributed to the development of numerous Jailbreak solutions) reignited the iOS hacking community’s hope for an iOS 6+ Jailbreak in a comment on Reddit. Planetbeing revealed that he had an Untethered iOS 6.0.1 Jailbreak running on his iPhone 5. As I’m sure most of you are aware, iOS 6.0.2 was Apple’s latest exclusive update for the iPhone 5 and the iPad mini, issued for the sole purpose of addressing an un-named Wi-Fi bug – a minor patch to hold users over until 6.1 is released.

Furthermore, planetbeing confirmed what we’ve been saying at BestTechInfo for months now: the developers are holding off on hastily finishing and compiling an iOS 6 Jailbreak because it makes more sense to save the exploits and wait for Apple to release iOS 6.1.

Now it’s time to transition into today’s exciting Jailbreak-related news. Since planetbeing’s Reddit comment was publicized, news pertaining to an Untethered iOS 6 Jailbreak has been rather non-existant, which makes sense considering pod2g revealed that the development of such a Jailbreak is currently underground and kept from the public, until now.

Last night, planetbeing sent a tweet to his followers, suggesting that he’s made progress on the Jailbreak with pod2g.

In response to planetbeing’s rather vague announcement, pod2g added clarity early this morning. The developers managed to discover two new vulnerabilities in a single day, which, if you’re been a part of the Jailbreak community for long enough, you’ll know is a huge feat.

Also in his response to planetbeing, pod2g stated that they’re still missing the initial code execution required for a public Jailbreak.

Hopefully, after Apple issues 6.1, the iOS security experts who have been diligently working on developing an Untethered Jailbreak for all iOS-based devices will have what they need to complete it. Remember, patience is key when waiting for a Jailbreak and we’re now closer than ever to a release.

Stay tuned for complete coverage on the development status of an Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 6, 6.0.1, 6.0.2 and 6.1.

Okey this is a jb for the iPhone, but what about the iPad ? I mean I hear some rumors saying that it differs because now Apple has something over the tablets (o.o) and that if they release a jb for the iPad they can end up in court … Now as glad as I am for the iPhone users, what about the iPad ones ? ://

It should still include the iPad. As stated in the article, it will likely include support for “all iOS-based devices”.

Found a redpois0n app and a rocky-raccoon app. The rocky raccoon app wouldn’t pick up the device and redpois0n bricked my ipad with the 3194 error was a bitch to figure out but eventually I got it up and running with no jailbreak getting really tired of waiting I wanna see what my ipad can really do. Judging by the way iTunes says it will automatically search for new update Monday I’m guessing were gonna be seeing 6.1 either tomorrow or the next day.
Plus I was wondering if you knew what the jailbreak will be called as so I know what to look for I’m tired of getting burn with these apps claiming to be the devteam

First, NEVER trust a utility that we don’t report on here at BestTechInfo. A lot of them are either Redsn0w or Absinthe with a different interface. Sites/individuals either sell the useless tools or incorporate some type of virus.

Second, patience is key. Just stick with us and you’ll know as SOON as an official Jailbreak is available.
