Google Scheduled To Reveal ‘The Next Dimension Of Google Maps’ Ahead Of Apple’s WWDC

Google is scheduled to hold an “event” on the morning of June 6th at 9:30am PT, 12:30pm ET. The virtual mapping veteran will reportedly demonstrate their “newest technology and provide a sneak peek at upcoming features that will help people get where they want to go – both physically and virtually” at the event during a “behind-the-scenes look” at Google’s vision for the future.

At this invitation-only press gathering, Brian McClendon, VP of Google Maps and Google Earth, will give you a behind-the-scenes look at Google Maps and share our vision. We’ll also demo some of the newest technology and provide a sneak peek at upcoming features that will help people get where they want to go – both physically and virtually. We hope to see you there.

Sounds intriguing, right? Based on logic, and the event’s tagline, “The Next Dimension Of Google maps”, Google will likely reveal some form of 3D mapping technology. The event is set to take place just days before the opening of this year’s annual WWDC (or World Wide Developers Conference) hosted by Apple, starting June 11th.

During WWDC, Apple will presumably unveil an alternative to the Google Maps app that’s been persistent in iOS since to mobile operating system made its first debut alongside the original iPhone in 2007. Is Google attempting to undermine Apple’s big event with the announcement of mind-boggling capabilities for “the next dimension of Google maps”? We’ll know soon enough! Stay tuned for complete coverage on Google’s June 6th event and Apple’s annual World Wide Developers Conference.
