Take for instance Apple’s new iPad, with a more advanced GPU (graphics processing unit) than current consoles and a higher resolution than 1080p TVs, it would be ludicrous for developers to ignore the mobile gaming-space. Additionally, with mobile platforms (e.g. the iPad) improving at a rapid rate, it’s possible for developers to create portable game titles that match the caliber of today’s console games. But what about tomorrow’s games?
Ctytek, the legendary developers behind the Crysis franchise, recently released their CryENGINE 3 SDK 3.4.0 DX11 update for other developers interested in the future of gaming. Ctytek also put together a video (embedded above) that highlights some of the new engine’s additions and features.
Upon release, the original Crysis and Crysis 2 games were considered to be the pinnacle of graphics technology and quickly became the golden standard of comparison. If the next installment in the Crysis franchise (Crysis 3) utilizes CryENGINE 3′s full potential, the game will certainly shatter all expectations.
With Ctytek’s new CryENGINE 3 update and the next-generation gaming consoles on the horizon, console gaming is bound to become the center of the industry once again. Stay tuned for more gaming related news.
