Apple’s iPhone 5 Inventory Selling Faster Than Expected

Apple's iPhone 5 Inventory Selling Faster Than ExpectedEarly this morning, at 12:01am Pacific and 3:01am Eastern time, Apple started accepting pre-orders for the iPhone 5. Only an hour after customers were able to order the new device, Apple’s site started displaying an estimated shipping time of 2 weeks.

Previously, when pre-ording closer to 12am, it was noted that the iPhone will arrive on September 21st. Now however, delayed shipping estimates are being reported across the US, Canadian, UK, German and Australian Apple Store sites.

Where to buy the iPhone 5

With carriers’ supplies starting to deplete as well, if you haven’t pre-ordered your iPhone 5, it’s probably best to arrive at an Apple retail store on the 21st to purchase the phone – that is, if you can tolerate the lines. Apple stores will open early, at 8am (local time), on the 21st to better handle the imminent influx of foot-traffic.

Moreover, here in the United States, AT&T, Verizon and Sprint retail locations are also likely to carry additional inventory on launch day.

Last year, with the launch of the iPhone 4S, it took Apple approximately 22 hours to completely sell out of the company’s initial stock. Also, Apple’s site started displaying setbacks in shipping far sooner when pre-ordering the iPhone 5 than the iPhone 4S.
