Apple To Pay $2.25 Million In A Settlement Over False Advertising iPad ’4G’ Claims In Australia

Apple To Pay $2.25 Million In A Settlement Over False Advertising iPad '4G' Claims In AustraliaAccording to The Australian, Apple has agreed to pay a $2.25 million settlement to rectify the misleading advertising dispute regarding the new iPad’s cellular capabilities. At the end of March, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) said they were going after Apple due to the companies pseudo-claims and misleading advertising of ’4G’ (LTE) cellular data capabilities in the country.

What’s more, Apple previously changed the name of the cellular-capable iPad model from “Wi-Fi + 4G” to “Wi-Fi + Cellular” and removed the following description from their online international stores:

Connects to the Internet over Wi-Fi and fast cellular data networks — up to 4G LTE. Contact a cellular data service provider to sign up for a simple, month-to-month plan right on your iPad and cancel anytime without penalty.

While the lawsuit is said to be settled between Apple and the ACCC in Australia, the judge overseeing the dispute has yet to finalize the settlement. Stay tuned for complete coverage on Apple and their products.

They should give the same settlement to many other countries as well, since there were several others that didn’t get the proclaimed 4G LTE connection.
