AnoStyle Adds Color To The iPhone 5 And iPad Mini's Anodized Aluminum

Originally discovered and publicized by BGR, a new service called AnoStyle allows customers to send in either their iPhone 5 or iPad mini to effectively change the color of the stock silver or slate anodized aluminum to something a bit more vibrant. The company currently offers iDevice aluminum anodization in either red, green, yellow, pink, orange, gold, blue, teal, violet, blue steel, copper or bronze.

Instead of typical paint, AnoStyle uses a semi-unique anodization technique that’s quite similar to Apple’s factory method for coloring the aluminum backplates for their iPhone 5 and iPad mini. Upon completion, AnoStyle runs devices through a “21-point test” to verify that everything is still functioning properly.

Moreover, due to the anodization coloring process used, AnoStyle ensures that the color will neither wear off nor chip – that is, unless it’s mishandled or dropped.

Unfortunately, the rather intriguing concept of coloring your iPhone or iPad mini can take anywhere from one to two weeks and costs more than the price of the base model iPhone 5 under contract: $299 to anodize an iPhone and $299 for the iPad mini. If you’re still interested in differentiating your iPad mini or iPhone 5 from the millions Apple’s has sold, be sure to visit their official site.

I think apple will serve these colors for the iphone 5s

Hey Tanner, think this would hurt the resell value of the phone? I have a thing for black and green. So the green on my black phone would look amazing. Just worried about the resell value.

If the person likes green, it could actually increase the resell value – however, if they don’t like green, it’s a different story. It all depends on the buyer’s personal preference.

the iPhone looks really clean in these pictures too. Great service, just too pricey for a 15 year old, haha.. Appreciate this post, you do a great job with your blog.
    Thank you,

Yeah, they look AMAZING! However, I agree, it’s too pricey for most people really – $250 is a lot for what’s essentially a color swap. Thanks, that means a lot!
